The Rescue Team is comprised of about 40 highly skilled individuals from Fire and EMS Departments from across our 22 county Region. Each individual has a unique set of skills that allows the team to very diversified in the Technical Rescue Fields. The Team was originally formed when a need for Swift Water Rescuers were not available. Over the past Decade the STRAC Rescue Team has provided training to Hundreds of Volunteers and paid professionals in our Region and heightening the awareness to civilians about the dangers of low water crossings and swift water.
In addition, the need for Interoperable Communications has also been a challenge, over the years STRAC has transitioned from a 26’ RV outfitted with the communication equipment, to a 38’ Featherlite Command Trailer. This Trailer has the latest in interoperable capability from Air band to VHF, UHF and 800 Digital trunked systems that all can be cross patched to allow the different agencies the ability to communicate together using different radio systems. With Five Work stations a Dispatch area and the Unified Command center, this Trailer has been utilized in all of the Major Disasters in South Central Texas over the last several years. All Team Members have been trained at least to the ICS 700,800 level.
The Emergency Operations Division of STRAC in addition to the Rescue Team has additional MCI Trailers Strategically placed across the Region to be rapidly deployed to mast casualty events to assist with Decontamination, Triage or Treatment of multiple victims. Emergency backup power can be provided with the Three 60K, 125K or 200K Generators. Phone PBX systems can be supported with the use of the Five TracStar satellite dishes that provide internet and Four VOIP phone lines per dish.
