PHEP—Public Health Emergency Preparedness

This grant is routed through the DSHS Public Health Region 8, from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), to STRAC to allow us to assist with public health preparedness and allow interoperability and standardization with other response partners (hospitals, emergency management, councils of government, etc.). Since its’ inception in 2002, the PHEP grant has contributed to many of the projects that make this region a leader in preparedness. Projects such as the Regional Medical Operations Center (RMOC), the Multiple Casualty Incident(MCI) and Public Health trailers, satellite radio interoperability systems, the Patriot Mobile Medical Station to name but just a few. The PHEP contract works hand in hand with the hospital preparedness grant (OASPR) to allow public health and acute health care to integrate seamlessly for disaster response during events ranging from pandemic flu to hurricane evacuation.
